Pointhouse quay & new museum

A look down towards the new Pointhouse quay and beyond. Nice to see some traffic on this stretch of the river. The small boat in the middle of the river is the old No.8 ferry, further up is the SEPA survey ship SIR JOHN MURRAY. The Tall Ship GLENLEE can be seen berthed at the east end of Yorkhill quay.

A look across to the site of the new Riverside museum. Steelwork is advancing well and the new Pointhouse quayside is looking good.

Glasgow University tower to the left and Yorkhill and Queen Mother's hospitals to the right .

GLENLEE - 1,613 grt

This 3-masted steel barque was built at Port Glasgow in 1896. Now back in Glasgow and extensively restored after being abandoned abroad. More details of her history can be Read Here. She will be moved to a new berth outside the completed Riverside museum. The current berth she sits alongside was an old berth of the Anchor Line. The mouth of the old Queens dock can be seen to the right. A similar view from the 1930's can be Seen Here.

FRI TIDE and VICTRESS

FRI TIDE - 2,218 grt

A look down on Shieldhall this morning as FRI TIDE is unloaded. I'm not sure what she is in with. More of her details can be Read Here.

Later on in the day and she is looking a lot lighter.

Again, I'm not sure what she is in with. She arrived alongside Shieldhall this evening. More of her details can be Read Here

Getting dark before 19:00.

Type 45 views

Following on from last night's shot of DAUNTLESS out of dry dock here was the scene two hours later. Having been brought out of dry dock No.3 DAUNTLESS spent a few hours at Shieldhall riverside before heading into No.2 dry dock. This is the view I get every time I look out my back windows.

A closer view of DAUNTLESS and her pointy bits.

DAUNTLESS alongside Shieldhall

DAUNTLESS - D33

The scene at Shieldhall tonight. Having been in dry dock since the 25th January 2007 DAUNTLESS was moved to Shieldhall docks this evening to make way for the docking of DIAMOND (D34) in No3 dry dock. This dock seems to be a final outfitting dock for the Type 45's and will stay flooded once DIAMOND is in. A trio of Tugs from Clyde Marine Services can be seen ahead of the the Destroyer. From the dockside BRUISER, BITER and BOOJUM BAY.

DRAGON - D35

AGSU

AGSU - 7,833 grt

The scene just before she sailed tonight with AYTON CROSS on her bow. She is the third of Palmali's Masalli class tankers to visit Rothesay dock. This isn't her first visit to the Clyde, she's been to the Finnart fuel termianl a couple of times, but I think this might be her first visit to Clydebank. More of her details can be Read Here.
Apologies for the lack of email replies. Very very busy at work.

DARING - D32 & DIAMOND - D 34

A look across to the scene at Scotsoun tonight. Nice to see two Type 45's berthed this way.
If only the neighbours would let me in for a few pics, it would save me a 40 minute round trip to photograph this scene at the bottom of my street.

Greenock views

A few shots from earlier today. Taken whilst working down that way. This is Garvel drydock getting her new gates fitted. A great sight to see after Garvel secured a new 30 year lease on the dry dock. Here's hoping the new gates are kept busy. I don't know the history behind the tower in the background. Any info would be welcome. I noticed a date of 1871 engraved in the stone work.

A closer view of the new gates being positioned.

Calmac's car ferry SATURN alongside Garvel's repair yard. WARRIOR III and SVITZER MALLAIG at home in James Watt dock (JWD).

Looking at the same scene from the other end of the dock. SATURN at Garvel and Svitzer at home. More info on SATURN can be Read Here.

SVITZER MALLAIG and AYTON CROSS at the Svitzer base in JWD. Also ROVER and other small craft alongside.

James Watt dock tower
