Seen this afternoon as she sits alongside Shieldhall. I'm not sure what she is in with, possibly road salt or some other dry bulk. She arrived in this morning.

Rothesay dock this afternoon as AVANTI C works at the mouth of the dock and STEN EMBLA sits alongside the tanker berth. She departed a short time later.

MORNES - at night

A look over to the damaged bow of MORNES as she sits alongside the No.10 berth at KGV dock. It looks like there is some sort of frame being erected at the damaged part of the hull.

AVANTI C

AVANTI C

She is working alongside the dredger WD MEDWAY II. The large object off her stern is lowered onto the riverbed and dragged along to level any disturbance that has been caused by the dredging. Well, I think thats how it works. On the Notice to Mariners Clydeport has the bed levelling tug as KAMSAR. There was either a last minute change or a typo on the Notice.

More info on AVANTI C can be Read Here.

The buildings in the background are those of the old Lobnitz & Co shipyard. The land ahead of the tug, exposed by the low tide, were the slipways of the old Simons shipyard. Both these old yards specialised in Dredgers. Industry leaders in their day with dredgers built for customers the world over. Many still dredging to this day even though the yards closed back in the mid 1960's.
An ariel view of these old yards, seen back in the 1930's, can be Viewed Here.

FIRE 7

FIRE 7

The modern day rescue service on the Upper Clyde, operated by Strathclyde Fire & Rescue. She was heading back up to the Yoker slip to be loaded onto her trailer and driven back to her land base, possibly Knightswood fire station.
Up until a few years ago the main river rescue service was undertaken by the Glasgow Humane Society. Mainly by George Parsonage. I highly recommend viewing the short film about George's life on our river. The man is Mr Clyde!

The video can be Viewed Here.
